A birthday email for every customer, and the nudge in your own words

Two emails that go by themselves. The nudge FullDiary has always sent when a customer is due back can now say it your way, with a discount code on the Book button. And new: a birthday email on the morning of their birthday, once a year, with an offer if you want one. Both part of the Marketing add-on, both counted like any campaign.

The Automations page on a computer for Fade & Blade: the rebooking nudge, which goes 28 days after a visit, with its own subject, Time for another {service}, {first name}?, and message beside the email as Sam would get it, Time for another Haircut, Sam?, with a Book an appointment button and a Stop these offers link

FullDiary is the booking system for UK small businesses: an online booking page, a live diary, reminders and your customers in one place. Last week Marketing arrived, the add-on for emailing the customers you already have. This week two emails join it that you write once and never send: the system sends them when the moment comes.

A birthday email

Switch it on under Your shop, Marketing, Automations, and on the morning of a customer's birthday they get an email from you, in your words, with a Book button. It goes at nine, once a year, to anyone with a date of birth and an email address on their record, and never to anyone who has stopped your offers. Put a discount code from Sell more on it and the button carries the code, so a birthday treat is one press away. Birthdays come from the customer's profile, or from your import if your old system kept them.

The Marketing page on a phone for Fade & Blade, with its Automations section: Rebooking nudge, your own words, this week 9 sent and 2 booked worth 45.00; Birthday email, on with code BIRTHDAY10, this month 1 sent and 1 booked worth 18.00

The nudge, in your words

FullDiary has always sent a friendly email when a customer is due back and has nothing booked, after the gap you set under Keeping customers: four weeks for a barber, eight for colour. On every plan it still does, in the standard words. With the Marketing add-on you can now write that email yourself: a subject, a message, and {first name}, {service}, {staff}, {shop} and {code} filled in as it goes, so it can say what you would say. Put an offer on it too, and the people who drifted off get a reason to come back.

What came back

Each email you write sits beside the email as a customer would see it, with your logo and photo if they are switched on under Emails, and Send me a test sends it to your own address first. Then Marketing keeps the score: each round of the nudge, and each day's birthday emails, with how many went and how many booked through the Book button, at the price of each booking. Rebooking nudge, this week: 12 sent, 2 booked.

Your customers stay in charge

The nudge in your own words, and the birthday email, are offers, so every one ends with a link to stop your offers, which works in one tap, and nobody who has stopped them is emailed again. The nudge in the standard words, with no offer on it, is the same service email it has always been on every plan. Booking confirmations and reminders carry on as normal either way.

Setting it up

Both are part of the Marketing add-on: 9.99 a month for your whole shop on top of Pro, or 99.90 a year on a yearly plan, added under Settings, Your plan and stopped whenever you like. Open Your shop, Marketing, Automations, write the words, switch the birthday email on, and save.

Questions people ask

Who gets the birthday email?
Anyone on your book with a date of birth and an email address on their record who has not stopped your offers, on the morning of their birthday, once a year. Add a date of birth on the customer's profile, or import it with your book.
Can it send twice?
No. Each customer is marked the moment their birthday email goes, so a second run the same day sends nothing, and the next one is a year later.
What happens to the nudge without the add-on?
It goes as it always has, in the standard words, to anyone due back with nothing booked. Your own words and an offer on it are part of the Marketing add-on; the birthday email is too.
Can I put a discount on them?
Yes. Make a discount code under Sell more, pick it on the Automations page, and the Book button carries the code, so the discount is on when they book.
